Habitat and Species Assessment and Monitoring
Habitat assessment and species monitoring are necessary to evaluate the overall health of the ecosystem.
Habitat assessments document and examine the extent of degradation of forest cover in the overwintering areas, in order to help us understand the factors that either encourage or discourage degradation. Species assessments review the size and health of the monarch butterfly colonies, and other important faunal and floral species within the overwintering area.
